ABOUT
Our Cottage by the Canal de Midi is a cozy one-bedroom cottage set amidst two working farms, only 15 minutes from Carcassonne. You'll enjoy the tranquility of the upstairs private terrace at day's end where you can taste local wines or grill on the barbecue. This self-catering 2-story holiday home includes WIFI, a TV and a fully equipped kitchen with a microwave, fridge, stove and laundry machine. A public terrace is available next to the Canal de Midi, 50 meters away. Carcassonne Airport is 12 km away.

The Bedroom
Rise to the sound of birds chirping in the forest of the nearby chateau. We supply the linens and a duvet. An Amazon "Dot" by your bed plays your favorite music , news and podcasts. Just download the "Alexa" app on your phone. Since the cottage is set in a working farm you may hear a tractor pass by in the early morning. Simply shut the double-glazed windows if it disturbs you.
Le Jardin
The garden is located upstairs in the cottage. Since this picture was taken last year, grape-vines have grown and now provide shade and a cool respite from the Midi's summer heat. Solar powered lights twinkle in in the night as you light up the BBQ. However, in this part of Languedoc, mosquitoes can appear , depending on the weather and breeze. Spray your self with the repellant before you head out. Beach umbrellas are stored in a corner which you can take to the region's many delightful bathing spots...Narbonne, Sete Plage, Port Leucate and others. Help yourself to beach towels which are stored in the bottom drawer of the bathroom sink cabinet.

The Kitchen
"The Study"
The Neighborhood
The "Study" is a small room upstairs just off the garden and bedroom. It has a sofa bed and Smart TV. You can unfold the table and connect your laptop via HDMI to watch movies or work with two screens. The TV has Google remote but I have no idea how to use it!

"The Neighborhood"
As a guest in the cottage you can dine at the picnic area, set out a lawn chair and sit by the side of the canal in the Domaine's common area. Kindly remember this a small village and there are neighbors who rise before dawn to till fields. Lower your voices after nine p.m. The canal-side market town of Trebes is five minutes away by car from the cottage and offers two large supermarkets, a florist, boulangerie, pharmacy, bike rentals and affordable restaurants. Trebes' market day is Sunday.

GUEST REVIEWS

I would highly recommend this accommodation. The location is amazing and accessible to all local amenities, yet situated alongside the canal gave a beautiful rural feel to the experience. A fantastic base for exploring this part of France. Trèbes was close be with ample restaurants, supermarkets and the most amazing patisserie. Cleanliness was to the highest standard and the cottage was full stocked with everything one needs for an enjoyable holiday . An enclosed courtyard to the rear of the accommodation, was perfect for enjoying morning and evening alfresco dining and sunbathing. Carcassonne was 15 minutes drive, with all its wonderful attractions and easy access to airport. Lac de la Cavayère is 15 minutes drive and has small but beautiful beach. Would highly recommend a trip to Mirepoix for Monday Market. I will definitely be back.

House Rules
We are located on a working farm where land boundaries are important. To walk or bike to the other side of the Canal, and along the Canal towpath, turn left out the door towards the Canal, then turn right, following the path by the barn that will lead you across the bridge. The farmer's daughter has two rambunctious but friendly dogs, Igor and Romeo. If they try to jump up, say "Arret ! " (Stop) If you want to give them biscuits, ask the farmer's daughter, Axel, first.
Sadly, no pets are allowed as I have a dog who will mark around the cottage if he smells that another dog has visited.
No smoking inside the house. OK in the garden.
If you are dining past 8 p.m. on the table by the Canal, keep your voices down in order not to disturb the neighbors.
Park your car on top of the hill in order for farm equipment to pass in the narrow lane. The driveway is to your left just after you round the bend to drive down to the cottage. It's before the door to the Chateau. You may park in front of the cottage to unload groceries or luggage.
